The Importance Of Being Social Inside And Outside Of Your Organization

Being "social" isn't just about Tweeting and putting up pictures on Instagram. In fact being social is crucial for your success both inside and outside of the organization. To explore why this is the case, my guest this week for The Future of Work Podcast is Dr. J.R. Reagan, the Global Chief Information Security Officer at Deloitte. Now typically when you hear about being social you don't hear the top security executive at a large global company advocating for it which is what makes this episode especially interesting.

At Deloitte, Dr. Reagan’s responsibilities are to protect the firm’s information across more than 150 countries, inside and outside of the company, for over 210,000 people.  Dr. Reagan reflects on the common notion that being social at work is taboo and causes employees to be unproductive. Today, social assists in spreading ideas, and flattens our organizations and our world. Many social platforms have become standard business and Dr. Reagan highlights how using some of the social media platforms internally can be used as new communication devices in an organization. Being social is now becoming a natural part of our daily lives and embracing it brings many benefits for our careers in the future of work. We talk about that and much more so make sure to tune in!
